Do agave plants bloom more than once in their lifetime?

The agave plant flower is one of the most fascinating aspects of this remarkable plant. After maturity, most agave species will only form a tall flowering stalk once, depending on the variety; this flowering stalk may take several years to form. When the agave plant has finished flowering, the main plant often atrophies, but many species form offsets or "pups" that will continue the life cycle of the plant and can be replanted to produce a new agave plant.
