Why does my Mitsubishi Pajero jerk forward when I stop at traffic lights?
Quote from headlee on April 16, 2026, 11:03 amI'm hoping someone here has experienced this before because it's starting to really worry me and I can't figure out what's causing it. I drive a 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero that I've owned for about three years now, and overall I've been really happy with it. But in the last couple of months, something weird has been happening when I'm driving in stop and go traffic. When I come to a complete stop at a traffic light or a stop sign, and then I take my foot off the brake to start moving again, the car jerks forward suddenly like it's trying to launch itself. It's not smooth at all, it feels almost like someone bumped me from behind. It doesn't happen every single time, which makes it even more confusing. Some days it drives perfectly normal and other days it does this jerky thing at almost every stop. I took it to a garage near my house and the mechanic said he couldn't find anything wrong because the car wasn't acting up when he drove it. That was really frustrating because I know I'm not imagining this. I started searching online to see if other Pajero owners have reported similar problems. Some people online said it could be a transmission issue, maybe the torque converter or something with the valve body. Other people said it might be a dirty throttle body or a sensor that's sending the wrong signals. I found a shop that specializes in Mitsubishi and decided to check out this page now to learn more about what services they offer. Has anyone here dealt with this jerking problem on their Pajero or any other Mitsubishi? What ended up fixing it for you? And is this something that will get worse over time if I ignore it? I really don't want to end up stranded on the road or cause damage to the transmission by waiting too long. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
